Seagate anounced that they updated its warranty terms to be more consistent with general practices in the consumer electronics and technology industries. Effective 31 December 2011 Seagate’s limited warranty policy will change to:
Nearline Drives – 3 years
Consumer electronic Drives – 2 years
Desktop and Notebook Mainstream Drives – 1 year
Desktop Baracuda XT Drives – 3 years
Notebook Momentus XT Drives – 3 years
This means that 3.5″ Hard Drives used in standard Desktop machines will have only 1 Year Warranty.
