RAM prices increase announced

Local RAM prices have been remarkably stable throughout 2012 considering the challenging economic situation and the fact that the big Japanese DRAM maker, Elpida, was forced into closing shop. But the pressure on currencies and the ongoing situation in the United States and Japan is about to take affect on DRAM and other memory modules with prices set to increase in February.

We have cut the price on the memory modules that we stock to the bone. All we can say is: if you want to save some money, get your RAM now before the price goes up.

A quick google will show you that some computer shops have already increased their memory prices but we’re holding the prices down until the last minute. For instance –

Apacer 1GB DDR3 1333 desktop RAM – R92.

Samsung 2GB DDR3 1333 desktop RAM – R157.

Transcend 4GB JetRam DDR3 1333 desktop RAM – R220.

You can find these and other modules in the online DDR3 category.

Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR3 2400

At the moment, the price of the Dual Channel 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3 2400 Gaming Memory kit is R4 420. Goodness knows what it will cost after the February RAM price increases. We have only one set in stock and it will have to be first-come-first-served: ph 021 853 4790.
