Happy Easter 2013!

Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. Holy Saturday commemorates the day that Jesus’s body laid in the tomb. Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary.

On Easter Monday Christians give each other Easter-eggs because these eggs symbolize the empty tomb of Jesus, the celebration that He has risen. In olden days, highly decorated bird or ostrich eggs were used but nowadays the Easter-eggs of choice are made of chocolate, not forgetting the Easter chocolate bunny.

Through-out the Easter season the irresistible sweet spicy smell of hot cross buns fills the air. The cross on the bun symbolizes the crucifixion and the bun itself is meant to be shared with a friend to show a commitment of friendship throughout the rest of the year. “Half for you and half for me, Between us two shall goodwill be.”
