Which Socket Motherboard Should I Use?

At Essential IT Solutions, we sell computer motherboards from as little as R499… and up to almost R9 000. But before you just look at the price – because the most expensive motherboard might not necessarily be the best one for your particular requirements – look at the features such as the socketset, chipset, bus speed, memory and graphics capabilities, sound features, BIOS features, security features and suchlike.

Each of the features on the different motherboards were designed for a particular use: certain motherboards handle data better while others are made specifically for video processing or hard core gaming. Some already have built-in components that might suit your requirements while others allow you to add components to scale up the performance as and when your work (or play) requires.

We sell the following socket series of motherboards (available in the Motherboard Category of our online shop):

SOCKET 1155 (INTEL)

SOCKET AM3+ (AMD)

SOCKET 1150 (INTEL)

SOCKET FM2+ (AMD)

SOCKET FM1 (AMD)

SOCKET 775 (INTEL)

SOCKET AM1 (AMD)

SOCKET 2011 (INTEL)

Choosing a motherboard

So, which socket motherboard to choose? Well, of course you can google it or study the specification sheets of the differing models. You’ll also want to make sure that a new motherboard will be compatible with the hardware (such as CPU, RAM, graphic card and power supply) you already own. But the easiest way is to simply ask one of the Essential IT Solutions technicians.

Do you use your computer mainly at home for personal use, do you want to use it as an entertainment centre, or to play the latest games or some old games? Or do you want to edit music or videos, or use it at work to process spreadsheets or crunch through heavy data? We’re sure we have exactly the right motherboard for you. Feel free to call us on 021 853 4790.
